However, in many expensive houses, where beautiful custom designed flooring such as tile, marble and parquet is installed, the flooring material is an integral part of the original architectural design, frequently requiring that the color choice of these expensive materials be made early in the design process. There may be some room for flexibility; for example, elaborate mosaic floors are used in limited areas and wood floorings are in natural colors that blend with any color scheme. Natural wood floorings even from the lightest to the darkest can blend with most color schemes and because of their tone become almost neutral with a strong color scheme. Some may even consider this a negative feature of wood flooring, since flooring can be considered such a strong feature of a room, combining the appearance of strength with the ability to blend into the background.

No matter which of your flooring ideas you decide to go with, make sure that you understand exactly how to care for that flooring once it is installed. There are differences in flooring. If for example the walls are a pale color, you may find that a natural colored rug fits better in with the room than a purple one would. If the walls are more of a copper color then you would be better off choosing a red colored rug. You have to know which colors go better together and whilst you do not have to go for the same sort of color as the walls, you do have to go for one which compliments it. So you can choose either a neutral color or a color which adds a little subtle touch or a vibrant contrasting color which brings the focus to the rug but which does not clash with the color of the walls.

There are many different types and most have a wood effect finish but there are ones that mimic ceramic, slate or terracotta and even metals such as copper and brushed aluminium. This is usually installed on a thin piece of foam without nails or glue, which makes installation fairly easy but can create a noisy floor. Laminate floor coverings basically have the following layers:core, laminate and protective foil. The flooring is made from lengths of high density fibreboard (HDF) and they tend to be a locking or tongue and groove versions.

Wood is also widely used for some types of industrial floors, particularly in places like foundries where certain resilience is required. Because of its resilience wood still has no rivals where dance floors and Gymnasia are concerned. Sheet Vinyl floors are very economic alternative to wooden or tile floors. Smooth vinyl is the cheapest option while cushioned vinyl is more comfortable for walking on. Wall to wall carpeting allows you to have pretty much whatever kind of floor you want-basic tile or sheeting is fine because it will be covered with the carpeting. Colors, textures and softness are among the choices you have in carpet. Stain resistant carpet is a great idea for families with small children just learning to walk. Carpet is especially good for those who despise cold floors in the morning.

These are easy to clean and easy to install materials that are capable of withstanding longtime exposure to moisture.
